Revillagigedos Archipelago
February, 2020
In February, my Son, Chris, and I headed back down to Cabo San Lucas to board the Nautilus Explorer for our trip south to the Revillagigedos Archipelago. This patch of uninhabited islands is located about 240 miles south of the Baja Peninsula. It is about a 24 hour boat ride to reach this destination.
We spent the first day diving San Benedicto Island at the Canyon dive site. The manta rays and silvertip sharks provided plenty of photo and video opportunities.
The next 2 days were spent at Socorro Island. We enjoyed some nice manta action at Cabo Pierce and Roco O'Neil but Punta Tosca, usually a great dive site, had more current than it did marine life.
Roco Partida was our next stop. It is just a rock sticking out of the water in the middle of the ocean. Fortunately, we had unusually calm water for our 4 dives here. We encountered manta rays, large schools of jacks, silvertip and whitetip sharks.
After Roca Partida, we headed back north stopping at San Benedicto Island to dive the Boiler, a great dive site. Here we were mesmerized by a myriad of manta rays. Beautiful.
As usual, the crew of the Nautilus Explorer did a great job with dive operations, food, safety and guest enjoyment.
